July has come and gone.  It was a good month.  The kids finished swim lessons.  Dani advanced to the next level.  I was thrilled.  Angela did real well in swim class.  She is putting her face in the water.  That is a really big step for her.  I am going to sign her up for dance.  I know a teacher that will keep an eye on her.  This is going to be her physical therapy.  The kids are getting ready for school.  Dani is a little nervous about first grade, but she will do well.  Angela has the same preschool teacher that she has had for 1 1/2 years.  She will do well.  Josh doesn't really want school to start, but he is ready for second grade.

In the middle of July, our family went camping in Utah.  We went just north of Bryce Canyon.  We were there for about 5 days.  My whole family was there and it was a great experience.  Some members brought up motorbikes and quads.  Josh, Dani, Angela, and Jim rode on the quads for 2 days.  We took some time to visit Bryce Canyon.  It was really cool to see.  The kids weren't as excited as we were.  They thought they were just rocks.  I enclosed some pictures of the kids on the quad with their dad.

It has been a great summer.  I'm sad to see it go, but I also can't wait for school to start.  On Sunday, our stake is realigning the ward boundaries.  It is going to be fun.  We are at the edge of the stake, so we probably won't move to another ward.

Painting Fire Hydrants

Christian's Eagle Proect was painting fire hydrants around the neighborhood.  Jim, Josh, and I helped Christian paint fire hydrants.  The sister missionaries were in our group.  It was fun to talk to the missionaries serving in our ward and meeting the other sister missionaries that joined them. The service was very rewarding especially since we served those who could benefit live in our neighborhood.  The day was planned very well and Christian had a great turnout.  He will make a fine Eagle Scout.

50th Wedding Anniversary

We threw a 50th Anniversary party for Marden and Myrna.  We wanted to keep it a family affair, so we decorated the YW;s room at the stake center and invited just family over to reminisce with them.  Mindy did an amazing job decorating.  I created a book for them with pics and comments from their grandchildren.  We wanted to surprise them, but we didn't them that we were doing something for their 50th and it would be small.  Here are the pictures that I took the night to remember the occasion.  Happy 50th!!

Memorable Monday
Journal Entry Aug. 13, 2004

School started yesterday.  Josh and Dani were excited about going.  They were really excited about lunch.  Josh has a real nice teacher, Mrs. Michaels.  There are a lot of kids in his class that he knows from last year.  Dani likes her teacher.  She is new to Porter.  Dani was very nervous until she met her teacher and knows where she is going to sit.  She is realizing first grade is different than kindergarten.  First grade will be hard work.  Dani knows some kids in her class also.  I asked the kids who they played with at recess.  They played with each other.  They have recess at the same time.  It was neat to hear that they chose to play with each other instead of their school friends.

Angela woke up sick and wasn't able to go to school on her first day.  She will go to school on Monday.  She will have the same preschool teacher and same program, so I don't think she missed too much.  I just hope that she gets on the bus without too much fuss.  After a break, it takes Angela awhile to get on the bus.

Dani and Angela will start dance lessons next week.  Dani took the same class last year with some of her friends.  Her friends are in the same class this year.  Angela is taking dance for the first time.  Her doctor feels that this would be good for her.  It could be her physical therapy.  I know her dance teacher and have talked with her about Angela.  We think she will do well in the class.  She wanted to stay and dance when Dani went to class.

Josh decided that he didn't want to play soccer or softball anymore.  That's OK.  Josh will start Cub Scouts next month.  That will keep him busy.

Tomorrow, our ward is having a Primary Activity Day.  The theme is water Olympics.  We are going to the park and playing water games.  Lucky for us, it will be a cooler day.  The Olympics start tomorrow also, so the kids are very excited.  The ward was re-aligned on Sunday, so we have some new kids in the primary.  There are two more boys that are Josh's age.  I'm so excited.  Josh needs more boys in his class.

Everything is going well.  The kids will be busy and that keeps me busy.  We love you all and will write again soon.

First Day of 3rd Grade

Here are so pics of each of my kids in 3rd grade.  They looked so young back then. I started this a few years ago with kindergarten. It's fun for me to see how they look alike and different when they are the same age.

First Day of School

My kids are off to School - Angela is starting 11th grade and Emmy is starting  6th.  It's weird having just 2 kids start school this year.  This is Emmy's last year at Porter, and will be mine as well.    I wish them the best of luck this year.  They will do great!!

6th Grade Teachers

Emily is starting 6th Grade and has Mrs. Wakes as her 6th-grade teacher.  This is the last year that Emily will have just 1 teacher.  I wish her the best of luck in 6th grade.
Emily and Mrs. Wake

Josh and Danni had the same 6th-grade teacher, Mrs. Lenz.  Ironically, Emily had her in 5th grade.  3 our my 4 kids had Mrs. Lenz in Elementary school.  She has helped shaped the lives of my children.  Angela was in the special education program and Mrs. Burleson and a speech - therapist.  I totally forgot her name.
