Josh's 23rd Birthday

Happy 23rd Birthday - We took Josh to Firehouse Subs to get his free sub.  It has become a tradition to go with the family to get some food.  I love this tradition to get out of the house and have a meal together.

Memorable Monday
Journal Entry August 18, 2006

School started on Monday.  Josh is in fourth grade this year.  His teacher is Mr. Morris.  Fourth grade is a huge jump from 3rd.  He has spent 1 hr. or more on homework every night.  He works hard for that hour.  He really enjoys school and wants to do good in school.

Dani is in third grade.  She has Mrs. Prowett.  A week  and a half before school started, she had her bar in  her mouth removed.  She grew attached to her bar and  missed it when it was removed.  On the second day of school, she got braces on 7 of her teeth.  She received four braces on her two top front teeth and three on the bottom.  There was only room for 3 instead of 4.  Her bottom teeth are closer together.

Angela is in 1st grade and attending Roosevelt.  She cried a lot on the first day.  She was fine getting on
the bus, but cried when it arrived at Roosevelt.  She wants to go back to Robson.  She is feeling better
about school.  She still isn't 100% potty-trained.  The school staff is really good about helping her.  I send her to school in her underwear.  The first three days, she came home in the same clothes that I sent her.  Today, she had a few accidents.  We are going to get her potty-trained very soon this way.  I hope.

Emily is a cute little girl and enjoying life.  Emily and I spend more quality time since the kids are off to school.  I went to get pictures of the kids.  She freaked out and we only got one picture with her.  I'll have to take her pictures.

Jim is busy with work and scouts.  They had a court of  honor this past Sunday.  The boys earned 40 merit
badges and 15 advancements.  The scouts were busy this summer.  That's the way it should be.  Talking about scouts, Josh is going to earn his Bear and arrow points on Tuesday and on to the Webelos.  He is so
excited.  He turns 10 in a week.  He's excited.  I want to cry. I am enjoying spending quiet time at home.  I love it when the kids return to school.  They don't have enough time to fight with each other.

I included some pictures.

Mom's 77th Birthday

Today is my mom’s birthday. She would have been 77 yrs. old today.  She was a wonderful lady with a hug heart.  We miss her every day.

This is a day to honor my mom and celebrate her life.  Jeff sent me this pic of his family and his dad at mom's grave-site with balloons.  It was neat to see that they took him there to honor my mom. Jeff and Steve flew dad to AZ on her birthday to deal with the family house.  I saw them briefly as I gave them a vechile after they landed.

Lisa and I took our families to the Soda Shop to celebrate my mom's birthday.  She loved Soda, so we thought that would be a great place to sit and chat about my mom and her legacy.

Birthday Cards

My Mom and Marden Pace's birthday are just a day apart,  Marden's birthday is on the 12th and my mom's is on the 13th.  Marden is 1 day older than my mom.  They would always send each other the funniest birthday cards.  I remember my mom look for the funniest card to give Marden.  It was like who could find the funniest card.  She was always looking for funny birthday cards to some of her good friends that would enjoy a good laugh.  Marden was one of those friends.  She would also give one to Jim, since he has the same humor as his dad.  I think she would also send one to Mel Jones.  She didn't sent too many people funny birthday cars, so it was a treat to be on that list.

Manny's First Haircut

Manny got his first haircut.  Here is the result.  Danni had a friend come to my house and she cut his hair here.  The whole family watched, except Em.  That may have been a lot of pressure for the hairstylist, but o well.  She did a great job, even though Manny was not cooperative.  I videoed the whole haircut, but now wished that I took a before and after pic, instead of just after pics.  He looks handsome and little more grown up.

First Day of School

Emily is off to high school this morning. She is a freshman at Mesa High this year.
Angela wishes everyone a great first day of school. She doesn't have to go to school, so she is happy as can be.

Emmy went to freshman orientation the day before.  After her orientation, we walked though her schedule so she knew where her classes were.  Mesa High is a big campus with a lot of students. I just want her to know where she is supposed to go before sending her the next day.

First Day of 6th Grade

Here are my kids ready to start the first day of 6th grade.  They all attended Porter for their last year of elementary school.  They look so young in these pics.  It's hard to believe that the next school year will be in Junior High.  When I was in 6th grade, I attended Mt. Jordan Middle School.  I like that my kids will be in elementary school  and not middle school for 6th grade.
