6th Grade Promotion

Emily had her 6th-grade promotion ceremony - Porter does a great job.  I'm so glad that all of my kids were able to finish 6th grade at Porter Elementary.  Here are each of my kids on the stage after their promotion.

Emily's 6th Grade Promotion

Emily finished 6th grade and had her 6th grade promotion ceremony.  The whole family including Brigham came to support her.  She is my last kid to promote at Porter so it was a very emotional evening as we said goodbye to her classmates, teachers, principal, and the school.  Emmy learned a lot at Porter, not just school work, but how to work hard in all aspects of her life.  She has some great teachers.

I'm going to miss my days at Porter Elementary, but know that my kids and I have grown a lot there. The teachers and staff were really good to work with.  I learned about volunteering and how important it is to my family and I.

May 17, 2006

Yesterday, the girls had the dance pics taken.  The backdrops were real cute.  I included their picture that I took at home after their pictures.  Danielle's costume comes with a pink hat.  The dance studio is keeping the hat to practice until their dance show in June.  Their dance costumes are so different that they will make great dress-ups after the recital.

We had our Enrichment last night.  I think the evening went well.  The theme was about food storage.  I don't know much about that subject.  My food storage leaves a lot to be desired.  The Enrichment Committee that I work with are great ladies who have great ideas and love to help.

The kids are finishing up on the last week of school.  They have a lot of fun things planned for that week.  I'm so sad that school is almost over.  That means that the kids are getting older.  Angela will no longer be a kindergartner.  I have a hard time with that.  I'm glad that Emily will still be at home next year.

I need to help Josh make a poster for school.  It's his turn to be Feature Creature.  He is excited to work on the poster.  Kids love to be spotlighted.  Who doesn't?

Journal Entry May 26, 1988

In my own words:

"Lisa graduated from seminary last night.  The graduates sat in a circle and responded to questions on How seminary will help me in the future and similar questions.  It was really neat.  My seminary graduation was nothing like Lisa's.  She loos great in her graduation dress.  I can't wait to see Lisa's graduation.  I was in my first car accident on Friday the 13th.  I can never find the place to take my defense driving course.  My court date id June 2nd.  I completed my first semester in college.  I received an A, to Bs and a C.  I hope to do better."

I attended Lisa's graduation and her is a picture of her receiving her diploma.  I know it was hard for her to leave Jordan High just before her senior year and attend Mesa High.  But, she is an amazing girl who made it work.

Bishopric

Our Bishopric was released and we got a new one.  Bishop Curtis was such a great Bishop and I enjoyed getting to know him.  Bishop Riding is our new Bishop with Darren Jensen and Craig Gardner as his counselors.

Bishop Johnson wanted to make a slide show and show it to the ward during "Break the Fast".  I was asked to get pics of the Bishop Curtis and all of his counselors for the show.  I contacted the wives of Bro Huber, Bro Malmberg, and Bro Watkins.  I collected as many pics as I could and gave them to Bishop Johnson to make the slide show.  It was great to remember all that our Bishopric has done over the years.

Randolph House

Our ward had the opportunity to go the Randolph House again.  I went with Angela and Emily.  Angela was paired with Alice this time around.  They had a very special friend who needed very specific needs.  She was blind and deaf in one ear.   Alice and Angela would rub her arm and sing to her with her good ear.  I would periodically look at her and see them helping this special friend of theirs.  It brought tears to my heart to see Angela helping her.  Emily's special friend was mobile and just needed some to hold her book while she socialized.  It was fun to see Emily go with the flow as her friend visited as many people as she could.  My friend wanted to socialize but felt trapped by her wheelchair.  There were times I felt that she wanted to go somewhere to talk.  I trusted that feeling and I pushed the wheelchair in the direction I felt she wanted to go.  She didn't talk very clearly.

After interacting with our special friends, we participated in a Sacrament Meeting where the youth and leaders bore their testimony about their perspective of the event that occurred earlier.  I enjoyed hearing Angela's testimony about what she learned by helping her special friend.  I'm grateful that I had this opportunity to go to the Randolph House.  This was my second time going and I learned so much on both occasions.
