Mesa High Graduation

Josh and Danni have several friends that graduated from Mesa High this year.  It was tough to say goodbye to their friends.  Devon graduated this year too.  I watched them graduate from the comfort of my family room.  Mesa High streamed their graduation ceremony and Danni sat right in front of the camera.  I watched her and Britt most of the time.  If they only knew that the camera was right in front of them.  Congrats to Brandon, Laurel, Devon, Dylan, and many others in the class of 2013.

Memorable Monday
TJHS Choir Booster President

As the year winds down and concert season is over, I wanted to look back at my service as the Taylor Choir Booster President.  It was an honor to work with the kids at Taylor and get to know them better.  I really enjoyed getting to know the teachers in the Performing Arts program at Taylor.  They were patient with me and let me walk around their building as a VIP.  I will remember serving dinner for the kids, chaperoning the MAC festival, selling concessions, and helping out with the jog-a-thon.  Being the president was totally reaching out of my comfort zone, but I learned a lot about myself.  I learned that I can do hard things and talk to people.  I'm not that shy person that I was in high school.

Swing Dance

Every year, the Jazz Band holds a swing dance fundraiser. We start off by eating dinner and listening/dancing to the songs of the Jazz Band.  Last year, Josh was in the lower jazz band class and didn't participate.  But this year, there was no lower jazz band, so he participated in the swing dance.  My favorite moment was when Josh and Mr. Quamo played a duet.  Mr. Quamo has been such a big influence on Josh's life and has encouraged him to play in Jazz Band.  It was great to see so many people come and support Josh at the swing dance.   I had a great evening and so did Josh.

End of School Events

Porter Band Concert

Mr. Anderson invited all returning Porter Band students to participate at the last band concert of the school year.  It was so fun to see Josh and other MHS students play along with the elementary school students.  I enjoyed going back to Porter for another band concert.  It brought back some memories that are just a few years old.

Mesa High Choir Concert

Danni joined the Chorale choir for the spring.  Their last concert was a Broadway concert and each choir performed several numbers from the Broadway hit.  Chorale performed "Guys and Dolls".  It was an amazing concert and a professional photographer took some amazing pics to share with the choir kids.  This was a fabulous concert!!!

Friends - Saying goodbye
Josh had his last band concert of the school year.  Mr. Brooks had some guests planned to sing and play while the band accompanied them.  It was an amazing concert which ended with awards and the traditional "Into the West" senior send off.  After the concert, there were many hugs as the seniors said their goodbyes.  It was one of my favorite concerts this year.

K-2 Water Day

Porter had a water day for the younger grades.  The PE teacher planned a lot of great water activities for the kids and rotated them throughout each event.  I came to help for the last hour and it was so much fun to watch the kids play.

Taylor Choir Concert

Angela sang beautifully for the choir concert.  I was busy helping back stage and watched her from the stage.  I handed the camera to a friend in the audience to record the performance.  Angela

Memorable Monday
Spring Pictures

Angela and Emily had their spring pictures taken at school.  Mesa High doesn't do spring pics, so I found recent pictures of the two of them.
current pictures.
Here are my kids when their 2nd grade school pictures were taken.  Angela attended Roosevelt and they don't do spring pics either.  Spring pictures always have a fun background and it changes year after year.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is my day to embrace motherhood and be the best mom I can be.  It's a time to honor both my mom and mother-in-law.  I have great moms and great kids who teach me to be a better mom.

Mother, I Love You
1. Mother, I love you; mother, I do.
Father in Heaven has sent me to you.
When I am near you, I love to hear you
Singing so softly that you love me too.

2. Mother, I love you; mother, I do.
I want to help you because I love you.
I want to mind you; I want to find you
Happy and smiling because I love you.
Mother, I love you; I love you, I do.

Memorable Monday
Puzzles

One of my hobbies is doing puzzles. Wikipedia definition of a puzzle - "A puzzle is a game, problem, or toy that tests a person's ingenuity or knowledge. In a puzzle, one is required to put pieces together in a logical way, in order to arrive at the correct solution of the puzzle. There are different types of puzzles for different ages, such as crossword puzzles, word-search puzzles, number puzzles, or logic puzzles."

These are some of my favorites:
  1. Logic puzzles
  2. Sudoku
  3. Rubik's Cube
  4. Crossword puzzle
  5. Tangram
  6. Numberlink
  7. Missing Pictures
  8. Jigsaw Puzzles
  9. Word Box Puzzles
  10. How to Escape Puzzles
I thought it might be fun for my kids to know that I really liked puzzles, but I think they probably already know that.  They are super fun!!!!
