I had tears in my eyes watching all three of them perform. It was a moment that I will never forget!!!!

February 5th - 4 AZ Temples - Jim and I took the kids to Snowflake Temple, open House, the Gila Valley Temple Open House, and now the Gilbert Temple Open House.
February 10th - We are going to miss you Sister Ashley Clawson. She is going to be a GREAT missionary!!!!

Aug. 1st - I have been really anxious about sending Angela off to high school this year. I didn't know if her schedule would have her resource classes or if she would get her schedule in time to walk through her classes before Wednesday. I wrote a letter and sent an email expressing my concern and asked for help. I was starting to panic!! Then, her case manager called me to work out a solution with her. I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I'm going to try to follow the case manager's example this week. There are so many ways to help some one out.
Aug. 8th  - The benefits of having 3 kids in one school, SHOULD be that your kids start school at the same time. My high school kids start school at 3 different times. What???
JOSH has to be on the field at 6:30 with his instrument, so he needs to be there at 6:15. If he is late, he has to run lap so being late is not an option.
DANNI has A hour which starts at 6:45. A half an hour is a lifetime to a teenager girl getting ready for school, so she leaves later.
ANGELA doesn't have an A hour because the school didn't have a class for her to take.
Soon, I'll have 3 different pick up times when marching band, drama, and choir get into full swing. I better find some good car music!!!!!
Aug. 12th  - My two younger girls heard on the news today that it might rain. They both ran to get their coats to take to school. I just smiled!!!! Cute girls!!!!!!
Aug. 19th - These clouds looks ominous !!!I love the rain and cooler temperature!!!!!! I'm thinking of those in the north valley who were affected by the flooding.
Aug. 24th - Happy 18th Birthday to my son.  Where did the time go??
Aug. 25th - Danni was inducted into the National Honor Society tonight. I'm so proud of her!!!!!
Sept. 8th - Too much rain for MHS today!!! The campus was flooded including the basement. Mesa Public Schools didn't close any schools today, but MHS had an optional day today. I wish I knew it was optional before I took them to school. This is as close to an "AZ snow day" that they will ever see.
Sept. 17th - Danni had Improv Smack-down last night. She was hilarious and so fun to watch. Thanks for a great laugh!!!!
Sept. 30th - Tonight is the first choir concert of school year. This is Angela's first choir concert as a MHS student. She has performed on the MHS stage twice before on junior high nights. Danni has performed many times on the MHS stage, and she is fun to watch every time. I love my girls and I hope they have a great time!!!!
Oct. 18th - I ran away tonight to watch the MHS Marching compete. They did well and came in 2nd place. It was to get out and watch the show with Jim.
Nov. 2nd - Happy !0th Birthday to my sweetest Emily.  I sure do love that girl.
Nov. 8th - Mesa High Marching Band competing in Bands if America in California!!! We found out if they move into the finals tonight around 7:00. Finals are tonight.
Nov. 15th - This was Josh's last marching band competition. They took 2nd place in their division. It was an amazing show. I will miss watching Josh compete in marching band. I'm thrilled to have him home a little bit more. I know that he will find some other activities to do during his senior year.
Nov. 29th - We are putting up our Christmas tree and realized that we need new lights. We were discussing how many lights we would need for the tree. Jim and Josh used the mathematical formula for a cylinder to determine how much was needed. Haha - I love my boys!!!!
Dec. 8th - Nielsen's has their fries for 25 cents today. My kids can't wait to go!!!!
Dec. 14th - The Mesa High choir is singing tomorrow night at the temple starting at 7:00. Christian Dance is performing next Monday.
Dec. 21st - Christmas Sunday - We couldn't get a group shot, so I made a collage. I love the Sunday before Christmas.
Dec. 22nd - I was watching the news this morning and saw this story.  It's the first day of winter and this best is running around south of Mesa instead of hibernating.   Silly bear!!   It was fun to watch on TV.
Dec. 27th - I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. We did!!!!

Ward Boundary Changes

Our stake realigned our ward boundaries again.  This is the 3rd time that they've done this since I lived in the KBP Ward and the 4th time since I've lived in this stake.

  • The first time that the realigned the ward boundaries was when I was a young adult living at home.  They announced that there would be changes made just before our family went to Utah for Lisa's open house.  We traveled to Utah and had a great time and totally forgot about the changes until we returned.  We were a small group that moved into the new ward and it was difficult not to be in the same ward with Chyrisse.  The stake changed the wards to names instead of numbers, so we went to the 29th Ward to the Lazona Ward.  I grew to love this ward and they helped with so much as a young adult.
  • The second time that the ward boundaries were changed was shortly after I had Angela.  We were living in the KBP Ward and I was the RS Secretary when I heard that there would be some changes.  I remember talking to the Visiting Teaching supervisor and knew that we needed to wait before making some changes in the route.  We lost the houses west of 24th Street, Yale, and Garnet to the Silvergate Park Ward.  It was hard to lose so many good families.
  • The third time that they changed the boundaries was a couple of years later and they returned all the streets that we lost from the last ward boundary change plus one more street.  A lot of people moved in and out since then, so there were a lot of changes.  I was serving in Primary a that time.  It took awhile to get familiar with everyone, but I hoped that we were done switching things around again.
  • The fourth time was yesterday and they took the houses west of 24th street again.  It's a tough lose to lose so many good families.  Each of my children had friends that will now go to the Copper Ward.  My dear friend, Joella, will be attending the Copper Ward too.  It's sad to make changes.
When I was 14 years old, I was attending the Crescent 14th Ward with a couple of really good friends, Stephanie Bacher and Rachelle Anderson.  I really loved my ward.  There was a neighboring ward called the Crescent 9th Ward and most of the youth didn't like me.  There was a ward boundary change and my street joined the 9th Ward.  I was so sad because Stephanie and Rachelle were not coming with me and scared because the girls in the new ward didn't like me.  I didn't want to go to church, but I did.  It was so hard at first, but the girls started to like me and I learned to love that ward too.  Change is so hard and I'm glad that I had the opportunity to meet new people.

Making Christmas Cookies

It's Christmas today and found this gem.  I don't remember anything about this picture, but it looks like we are making Christmas cookies.  I love that I'm posing for the camera while my siblings are still making cookies.  Love this picture!!!!

Christmas 2014

Wall Christmas Party

The Barney came up for a Christmas Party.  We had a Cafe Rio style dinner complete with nachos.  It was fun to chat with Debbie and Randy while they were up here.  Debbie, Lisa, my mom, and I went shopping at Seagull Book and Target after dinner.  It was great having some girl time!  My parents gave us a box of oranges and a bag of hot chocolate.   My parents always send a box of oranges to my brothers and I was so excited when my dad gave our family a box of oranges.  I was so busy enjoying myself  that I didn't take many pics, but I did get one of the 4 girls.
Cousins!!!

Christmas Sunday

I love Christmas Sunday and the sweet messages that we hear at church.  The spirit is really strong at church as we talk about the Birth of the Savior.  This year the church has launched a campaign called "He is the Gift".  Because of His gift, we can truly be happy.  I'm so happy this Christmas because of the peace I have received this year.

"He is the Gift" - lds campaign
One of our missionaries had to go home due to health reasons.  Josh was asked on Sunday to be Elder Collet's companion during church and an hour or two after church.  They sat a couple of rows ahead of us and when I gazed at the two of them, a tear came to my eye as I realized that he could go on a mission really soon.
Josh and Elder Collet
I love to get family pictures on Christmas Sunday, but Angela had a headache, so I decided to get smaller groups of pictures and make a collage.  I love my family and I'm so glad that I get to spend the Christmas season with them.

Temple Lights

We went to the temple a week ago to hear Danni sing, but we didn't take time to walk around the lights.  We went another night when after most of the crowd has left.  It was neat to walk around the temple grounds with my family and talk.

Christmas Eve Pace Party

We had our annual Christmas Eve dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Pace's House.  We had Cafe Rio styled nachos, burritos, and salad.  The pork was smoked and oh so yummy!!  Mindy brought some root beer for the family and they were disguised as reindeer.  We watched a video of the grandkids in their younger years while we ate.  We missed Devon, but know that he is where he is supposed to be.  The kids made trains from candy and we played some great games.  We had a great time and really enjoyed spending time with our cousins.

The evening is complete when Grandpa Pace hands out the stuffed animals.  This year, he passed out cute little reindeers - Rodney and Rhonda

Christmas Eve Traditions

We have our own family Christmas Eve traditions. We open presents given to us by Grandma and Grandpa Pace and special ones that the parents select, which usually ends up being all the presents under the tree.  Grandma and Grandpa Pace gave everyone money this year - YAY!! We also receive some pipe chimes - they will be fun for family night.  We opened our PJ and book presents too.
Christmas PJs
This year, we tried something new - our gifts to each other needed to be homemade gifts - no going shopping.  It was fun to see what gifts we would make for each other.  Danni's gift to her dad broke before she could give it to him.  It was going to be something for his key chain - I think she'll try it again.  This was a great idea and we'll see if it becomes a tradition or a one time thing.

Christmas Morning

I love Christmas morning!!!  Our family likes to sleep in, so we start opening presents around 8:00.  It gives us plenty of time before Grandma and Grandpa Wall come to see what Santa brought.  Santa brought lots of toys and goodies.

Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa Wall

We had lunch with our cousins on the Wall side of the family.  We ate a traditional ham and potatoes dinner. It was yummy!!  After dinner we opened presents.  Lisa had a recorder for Ashley so she could tape the event.   We were spoiled and everyone was pleased with their gifts.  The boys and Emily headed into the living room for some games while Kenzie and Angela wrote in their journals.  The Clawsons were counting down the hours when they could speak to Ashley.  It was a great Christmas!!!

Christmas Cards

2014 was a year of ups and downs for the Pace family.  We were privileged to attend both the Gilbert Temple and Phoenix Temple Open House and Dedication.  We love spending time together and know how precious that time is.  We are so grateful to have the gospel in our lives.

Jim continues to work at Merchant's Information Solutions.  He works from home once a week and it’s been fun to have him home more often.  His calling in the ward is the Assistant Executive Secretary.   He really enjoys playing board games with the kids.

Tami has had some health issues this year, which hopefully have been resolved.  She has been really busy at the schools attending concerts, musicals, field trips, and helping out as often as she can.   She LOVES her children and LOVES to watch them perform.   She always seems to have a camera in her hand capturing those moments.   She is the Advancement Chairman for the Scouts in the ward.

Josh is 18  and is a senior in high school.  In the spring, Josh joined full orchestra and participated in the pit of “Hello Dolly”.  He really enjoys playing the clarinet and bass clarinet.  He also took some AP tests and scored a 5 in Physics and decided that he wanted to be an Engineer.  In the fall, he marched the Sousaphone in the marching band, joined a college music class, and volunteered to play with the youth symphony.  He is so involved in the band program.  Josh is working really hard in school and filling out college and scholarship applications.  He is going to Mission Prep classes and getting prepared to go on a mission.

Danni is 16 and is a junior in high school.  This year, she performed in “Hello Dolly” and in “Seussical” at Mesa High.  She tried out for Acapella choir and Spotlight drama and made it into both groups.    She loves to perform on stage and is so fun to watch.  She was inducted into the National Honor Society this fall.  She is keeping up her grades and is starting to look into colleges.  Now that Danni is 16, she is driving and dating.

Angela is 14 and is a freshman in high school.  Last spring, Angela went to Disneyland with her choir and sang some Disney tracks.  She promoted from 8th grade and started high school.  She is doing well in school and is learning how to get around campus.  Angela is taking choir in high school and loves it.  She is such a beautiful singer and knows the lyrics by heart.  Angela is also taking seminary and loves to mark her scriptures.

Emily is 10 yrs old and in 4th grade.  Emily started playing the violin this fall and really enjoys it.  She joined a couple of clubs at school this year – Hope Club and Campus Care Club.  Emily loves to play board games with her dad and brother.

We hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

Christmas Choir Concerts

Mesa High  Choir Concert
Danni and Angela had the choir concert and it was beautiful.  Mrs. Turley has amazing concerts and it was so fun to see Angela and Danni shine.

Vespers
Danni sang at Vespers this year.  Only A Cappella Choir and Chamber Singers participate in this special program.  It was held on a Sunday.   They started the concert off by coming from the back of the theater singing "Angels We Have Heard On High" and left singing the same song.  It was so beautiful.  Danni's favorite song was "O Magnum Mysterium".  I really enjoyed the "Hallelujah Chorus". This was a special concert for our family, because everyone came to hear Danni sing.  After the concert, both choirs had a sing-a-long.  There was hot chocolate and treats too.  The the 65th year that Mesa High has done Vespers.  What an amazing tradition.

Vespers
Singing at the Temple
The A Cappella choir was invited to sing a the temple again.  They would perform some of the songs that they sang during Vespers.  Our family came to hear Danni sing and then look at the lights.  Danni was busy and we didn't see her after the concert.  We didn't look at the lights much. It was so packed that we couldn't walk around.  We planned to go next week when Danni can be with us.  It was so neat to see and hear Danni perform in front of the visitors center.

My Amazing Dad

Alex's dad passed away recently.  I went to the funeral with Lisa, Travis, and my dad to support Cortney and Alex during this difficult time.  I sat next to my dad during the funeral and felt so lucky to have in my life.  I wanted to share 5 amazing things about my dad.

  1. My dad is a very quiet and humble man.    He works really hard as the man behind the scenes.  I've heard from so many people how much they love my dad and all the work he does.  He doesn't seek recognition for his work, he does it to help.
  2. He loves my mom and takes good care of her.  She is wheelchair bound and my dad take care of her and the house.  He never complains about having to do all the work around the house.  He is an amazing example of a man who truly loves his wife.
  3. He loves to talk on the ham radio.  He has had many amazing experiences because he is a ham radio operator.  He would love nothing more than to pass on his love for the ham radio to his grandchildren.
  4. He loves to tinker with computers.  He has an office full of computers and has them networked to each other.  He loves digital pictures just like me.
  5. He has been either the ward clerk or the stake clerk for half of his life.  He is so good and understand the technology used for those callings.  He currently is a stake technology clerk.  He has also been the scoutmasters and served on the high counsel.

Winter Formal 2014

Danni asked Ammon to Winter Formal this year. She wrote his mom and amazing note asking her if it was okay if she asked Ammon out to Winter Formal.  When she received approval from his mom, she asked in in seminary.
She looked amazing for Winter Formal!! She was going to wear a beautiful light blue dress, but then she found out that Ammon was going to wear a red bow tie.  Her cousin had a red dress and delivered it to her just 30 minutes before she needed to leave.  I loved that she made the change to accommodate her date.  She had a great time and made her date feel special.

Danni ready to go on her date

Selfie pics are always fun!!!
Grandpa Pace took these photos and they turned out great.  Thanks!!!!

Winter Acts

Spotlight Drama put on their Winter Acts for the past 3 nights..  Each play was written and directed by the students.  I was so excited to see Danni act on the stage.  Jim and Josh came on the final night.  She is a great actress and I'm looking forward to many more performances from her.
Danni before Winter Acts
Harry Potter and the Mistletoe - Danni played Heromine in this act.  Harry Potter wanted to kiss a special girl, but everything goes wrong.  It was a cute act and the spotlight kids did an awesome job with the Harry Potter characters.

Candyland - Danni and Tarrod play characters that got lost in Candyland.  They meet some interesting characters there.

Hate Hypothesis - This was a serious play and Danni had small role.  This play was took place around the events of WWII.  Spotlight did an amazing job on this act and I was brought to tears.

Dasani - Danni and Finch played Fame and Fortune in this act.  Dasani is the genie and Holly asks for Fame and Fortune to realize that's not what she really wants.

The Wizard of Has - Danni plays a witch in this act.  The is a play on Wizard of Oz where the characters in this play end up being characters in the favorite board game.

Flight Risk - Danni plays a passenger on a plane where a ex-couple meet on a plane and have to sit next to each other.  It causes quite a commotion on the plane.  The passengers are NOT supposed to use their phones - no such luck.
