Memorable Monday
Walking

Jim and I have been working out in the mornings.  We have an exercise routine that we do, but on Monday, we went for a morning walk.  It was 76 degrees which was great weather and I wanted to enjoy the weather when it is that cool.

I remember when Mindy, Kathryn, and I would go walking around the church across the street from Marden and Myrna’s House.  We would make several laps until we reached a mile.  We would put the kids in the stroller and walk.  When it was hot outside, we would go to the mall, walk the mall and stop to do some stairs.  It was a lot of work, but it helped us feel better.

Sister’s Weekend

Lisa, Debbie, and I along with Em and Kenzie met up in Marana for some time away to spend time with each other.  This is our way of honoring mom and spending some time together.

We started off dinner at Texas Roadhouse where we spent half the time on Facetime with dad.  It was great to see him and have him be a part of our dinner.  We then headed to the mall for some shopping.  Shopping is always fun, but I struggled this time with the mask, so I spent some time outside taking pics of the younger girls.  We headed out to Benson where Debbie showed us her basement projects that she did this summer.  We even workout as sisters - Debbie had some exercise videos she wanted to try out.  It was such an exhausting day and I was asleep in minutes.  Emmy and Kenzie spent hours on the trampoline with Briley.  They almost spent the night on the tramp, but they got too cold.  Gotta love Benson!!

In the morning, I checked out the goats and lambs with Briley while she was feeding them.  We even went on a little lamb hunt as one escaped.  Later, Lisa and I went on the sand rail with Caden.  He had to much fun scaring me - I'll figure a way to get back at him.  We hung out for a little bit before heading back.  Debbie starts school on Monday and she still needed stuff to do, so we came home early.

It's always fun to be with my sisters and hang with them.  I enjoyed bringing the younger girls with us, so they can be apart of our sister's weekend this time.

Memorable Monday
Aunt Geri

Today was my Aunt Geri's funeral.  We were able to watch it via Zoom.  Her three daughters spoke at the funeral and shared memories of their mom.  I remembered Sheri, Kathy, and Brenda from my youth.  I really looked up to them and enjoyed their remarks.

Aunt Geri was so fun to be around.  She seemed to be at the center of most conversations at the Shaw family reunions that I attended.  She was also very nice to my mom and our family after my Grandma died.  It was hard to lose my Grandma Shaw and then feeling that we no longer belonged to the Shaw family hurt.   The merge of the Shaw and Burbidges was never complete and was very apparent to us after my Grandma died.  Roy and Geri always made us feel loved and important.  They still treated us like family when others did not.  They are our favorite aunt and uncle from the Shaw side because of it.

In 2006, we had a family reunion in Salt Lake City.  We stayed at Steve's house and Roy and Geri visited with us while we were there.  It was fun to see them and share stories and memories with them.  Roy and Geri also came to my mom's burial and expressed their love to me.  They gave my dad a $100 bill which he never cashed.

Mom’s 78th Birthday

My Mom

Today my mom would have been 78 years old.  There was so many things that I wanted to do to celebrate, but due to COVID-19, we decided to stay home and celebrate.  My mom loved getting fountain drinks, so we went to Sodalicious and bought drinks for all.  Later Jim and I watched Pillow Talk, one of my mom's favorite films.
Sodalicious Drinks

I thought about my mom all day and remembered the fun times that we shared.  I remember helping her with physical therapy and was so impressed when she kicked a ball on Thanksgiving.  She works so hard and it was cool to show her hard work off.  She had a heart of gold and loved being with family and friends.  She really loved her children and grandchildren and wanted them to truly be happy.  She loved doing plastic canvas and giving her hard work to her friends.  She loved going to Seagull and buying books to read,  She has so many books and some of them are probably duplicates.  She loved going out to lunch with friends, especially Mi Amigos with Susan.  My mom was one a kind and I'm so glad that I had the honor to know her.  We love you Mom!!!

Memorable Monday
First Day of 7th Grade

In tradition with my past blogs posts I am now turn to post my kid's 7th grade back to school pics.  They all went  to Taylor Junior high for 7th grade.  You can really see their personalities through these pics. They each had a different experience in 7th grade. Josh succeeded in band, guitar, and chess.  Danni succeeded in drama and choir.  Angela succeeded in choir and  even served in the cafeteria.  Emmy succeeded in orchestra.

Show Low Trip

Our family headed up north to Show Low for 3 purposes:
1- To see Britt and her precious baby
2- Get away from the heat
3- Play

We stopped by Britt's house and dropped Danni off to Britt and her little one.  We took turns holding and loving that little girl.  Afterwards, we headed to Sonic for lunch.  We stopped by Britt's once more to drop lunch off to Britt, Danni, and their kids.  Danni stayed behind to take Natalie's pictures and talk with Britt. While we were there we also checked out the horse and mule.  Manny was not a fan of either of them.  He was still curious and had Josh hold him while looking.

We love holding Natalie Anne Gaytan

We headed off to Fool's Hollow Lake, but it was full, or COVID-19 full, which is 25-50% full.  So, we headed to the Show Low park and played some games.  We played Uno Flip and Doctor Who Flux.   It was nice to sit outside in the shade and enjoy the beautiful weather.  It was one of the reasons that we headed up north - to get away from the heat.

We headed to Show Low Lake and hung out near and in the water.  Of course, Emmy totally got in the water and had a blast.  Angela was a little more hesitant but she got in up to her hips, which is more than I did.

First Day of school

Traditional First Day of 10th Grade
Emmy started 10th virtually.  It was not the way we wanted, but it was the way it went.  She rolled out of bed in her jammies and sat at the computer for a few classes.  She will sit in on the rest tomorrow.  We are waiting until the district feels it is safe to do a modified in person and then eventually an in-person model.  Emmy is such a trooper and learned that she does not need to audtiion for the Symphony.  That was the best news of the day

Here is her schedule:
A- Biology
1-English
2- Geometry
3- Symphony Orchestra
4- Seminary
5- Lunch
6- Drawing
7- PE
