Since we celebrated Josh's birthday this weekend, I wanted to look back at his younger years. I found these great photos and wanted to share them.

Approaching Honor Society
Approaching Honor Society
It was so neat to see Josh inducted into the National Honor Society. I'm so proud of Josh!!! In high school, my GPA hovered just under 3.5. The teacher over the National Honor Society was watching to see if my GPA ever reached 3.5. I wasn't able to reach that goal nor make it into the National Honor Society. We didn't have weighted classes which is disappointing because I too AP Chemistry my senior year. I wish I worked a little harder in school and became a member of NHS.

Josh turned 17 year old today. He is growing up into a fine young man. Here are some pics of him growing up.
We started off celebrating Josh's birthday by touring the the remodeled Inter-Stake Center. Afterwards, he headed to Red Robin for a Josh's birthday dinner. It was so yummy!!!
Tiffany arranged a party for him at the Neumeyers, which was so nice of her. Here are pics of the evening. I love seeing Josh hanging out with friends!!!

Diana Harris
Diana Harris passed away on August 17th and her funeral was today. She was one of my mom's best friends. She would visit my mom, and Lisa and I would love to be there for those visits. I loved discussing books with her and hearing her opinion. She was an amazing lady and we will miss her dearly. It was sad to hear that she lost her battle to breast cancer. She was only 55 years old, too young to die. Here are some pics of her at Steve's wedding.

Soccer
Soccer
Josh played soccer with 3 teams. The first team wasn't really a team, just a group of boys learning to play the game. It was fun to watch them chase after the ball. They didn't know any soccer positions so it was a free for all. The second team was the "Grass Stains" through AYSO. Josh made a new friend - Stephen and Danni met Emma. On game day, the boys would split into two fields so that every boy would have a good chance of kicking the ball It was a great season and I really loved going to the soccer games and practices. The third team was with the Blue Jays. This was the season that Josh realized that he didn't really like soccer, so it was the last season.

Temple Service
Our family had the opportunity to weed the garden on the temple grounds. It was a great service and we enjoyed doing it. A couple of weeks prior to this service project, we attended a special presentation at the visitor's center about service and how it can change people's lives. Josh and Danni laid sod near the visitor's center just a couple of day prior to this service project. It's great to do service for the temple both inside and out.

3rd Grade Teachers
3rd Grade Teachers
Emily started 3rd grade this year and has Mrs. Carlson. I love to look back and see my other kids in 3rd grade - it has become a tradition. Here are my kids with their 3rd grade teachers:
Josh - Mrs. Holmann
Danni - Mrs. Prowett
Angela - Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Johnson
Emily - Mrs. Carlson
Josh, Danni, and Emily attended Porter for 3rd grade. Angela attended Roosevelt for 1-3 grades in the self-contained Special Ed program. The special ed program that she is enrolled in continues 4-6 at Porter. I loved what Roosevelt had to offer Angela, but super excited to have her closer to home.

First Day of School
The kids started school today and I had the hold signs to indicate which grade they were going to. I found this idea on the internet and had to try it; out.
I'm really going to miss my kids now that school is in session. Since school started on a Wednesday, the older three had late start. I love that I had have all my kids home for a group picture Tomorrow, the older kids have A hour and have to be at school at 6:15. Emily had early release, so I was able to pick her up early and hear all about her day.

Locks of Love
Angela cut her hair and donated it to "Locks of Love". I sat down and talked to Angela what the organization was and how her donation could help others. She was willing to cut her hair and donate it. She looks so cute and grown up with her new hair cut.

Mr. Tingey
Mr. Tingey
Porter has a new principal, Mrs. Paula Warren. We were invited to come and meet her before school started. She seems like she will be a good principal for Porter. She has a Texan accent and I love to hear her talk.
I remember my elementary school principal, Mr. Tingey from Maeser Elementary. He was a family friend and we were often invited to his house to socialize. I remember that he gave Lisa and I are hard time because he knew us. One time we went to his house and we watched in horror as he cut off a chicken's head. The chicken keep moving after his head was cut off and he explained why. I think we had the chicken for dinner. I remember Mr. Tingey because he was a family friends as well as our principal.
