Orchestra Festival and Concert

Emily's orchestra participated in a festival today.  I was able to help out which was really nice.  I just found out the Emily's 3rd cousin is in the same orchestra.  The orchestra performed 2 songs for the judges, one of which was Mrs. Hagan.  They received a superior, which is the highest rating for Junior High.  The judges spend some time with the orchestra going over the songs that they performed.  Taylor was the last school. so they received extra time with Mrs. Hagan.  She helped them with another song that the were performing at the concert that they didn't perform at the festival.  She had such great advice for the students.  Mrs. Pillow, Em's orchestra teacher at Porter, was there with some familiar Franklin Jr. High students.

The concert was nice and short.  Mrs. Willis has 4 orchestras, so I was worried that the concert would be long.  But, it was a relatively short concert - YAY!!  Jim was able to come to the very last bit and was able to hear the 3 songs that Emily played.  Afterwards, we went to Fiiz.  It was a great day being surrounded by the Taylor Orchestra Program.

8th Grade Pics

Emmy just got her 8th grade pics back.  I think they turned out great.  She is such a beautiful girl with a sweet heart.  You never know how the pics will turn out.  You do their hair, pick out an outfit, and send with money, hoping that the pics will go well.  Emmy's pic turned out better than I could have imagined.  YAY!!!

I looked back and found pics of Josh, Danni, and Ang.   Angela forgot to hand her money on picture day, so I needed to request it from Lou Coopey.  I'm so glad that they keep pics for a very long time. Here is a collage of my kid's 8th grade pictures.

Kaylynn’s Baby Shower

Kaylynn had her baby shower and she got the most darling outfits for her little girl.  She had a great turnout of both family and friends.  Her mom and sisters did an amazing job on the food and decor.  It was AMAZING!!  I love the flowers on the wall along with the baby's name - Karter Lynn.  Such a cute name.  We can't wait to meet this little girl.

Danni stopped by for just a moment to show off her little guy.   I'm glad that Danni was able to go to Kaylynn's Shower and support her.  Danni really wanted to be here and I wanted her to be there too.  Brigham brought Danni and they only stayed for a little bit so that Kaylynn could have her moment.  At least I had time to keep a pic of the Jenna, Danni, and Kaylynn with Jordan and Manny.

Manny's First Photo Shoot

Danni had some cute pics of her son the day after he was born.  Danni and I switched off with the camera so Danni could be in some pics too.  The pics turned out so good and really capture the awe that Brigham and Danni feel about meeting their little one.

Brigham Manuel Gaytan II

Brigham Manuel Gaytan II was born on Sept. 19th at 3:07 pm.  He weighed 6 lbs. and 15 oz.  Danni's water born really early that morning (4:50 to be exact) and she headed to the hospital.  She arrived around 5:30.  She was admitted into her LDR room shortly before 8:00.  Labor started to get hard and with the nausea, she decided it was time for an epidural.  As soon as she had her epidural, Brittany and her mother-in-law arrived.  Labor progressed and 4 hours after her epidural, she was ready to push.  She only needed to push for an hour and Baby Brigg arrived.  Danni did a great job bringing him into the world.  It was sweet to watch Brigham Sr. as he cared for his wife, helped during the labor and delivery.  He was in awe of the moment  his son was born.  Danni held her son and was overcome with emotion and she became teary eyed.  It was such a sweet moment.  Baby Brigg is a cutie and is easily calmed by being held.  Danni is going to be an awesome mom.

A few cool things:
*Baby Brigg was born on the 19th, just like his dad
*Dr. Holmes delivered Danni and her son
*The nurse that helped Danni was named Tamra but went by Tammy
*Brigham was born on a raining day and his grandma came down from the White Mountians

"Everything You Ever Need"

“It’s everything you ever want, It’s everything you ever need, and it’s here right in front of you, this is where you want to be.”

This is my favorite quote of the Greatest Showman.  What we really want is right in front of us.  We just need to open our eyes and see.  My kids are all grown up and I love their personalities so much.  All I want to do is spend time with them.  They are all I truly need.  I'm SO grateful for these 4 kids of mine and all the lessons the have taught me.

Primary Program

Jim and I are primary teachers and we had the primary program today.  We sat with our class and enjoyed the program even more.  It was a sweet program and our primary kids did such a great job.  My favorite part was singing "Child's Prayer" with the primary, especially the last verse when the teachers sing a different part than the kids.  Jim and I both enjoy teaching primary and being involved in the primary program this year.
