End of Year Concerts

Emily's Orchestra Concert
Emily had her Orchestra concert with the band.  There were 2 concerts, one during the day for the 4th-6th grade students, and another one in the evening for the parents.  It was fun to hear both the band kids and orchestra kids play.  I went to both concerts and loved watching my Emily perform.  The 4th Grade Orchestra performed: "Serenat, Puppet Parade, Marching Along, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"

MCC Clarinet Concert
Josh took a clarinet college class through MCC.  Mr. Quamo was the instructor.  Josh played the bass clarinet in the choir along with his friend Kylie.  The MCC Clarinet Ensemble performed 3 songs - "Andante & Scherzo, Caprice for Clarinets, and Grand Quartet".  Some students, including Josh performed solos and ensembles.  Josh and David Chandler have been working on a piece since the fall - "Two Russian Pieces - Lament & Scherzo".  Josh plays the bass clarinet and David plays the piano.

Mesa High Band Concert
Josh's last band concert was AMAZING!!  They played some great music, one of which was "Molly and the Shore" which is now Josh's favorite song.  It was the award ceremony and Josh received a musicianship award and a hug compliment from Mr. Brooks. "I feel bad that I haven't noticed him more , such a positive person to be around and has really done a lot, just whatever the band needed. he would do.  He played the bass clarinet, we needed a tuba player for marching band, he did it for 2 years, never makes a big deal about himself .  Man, he is a good bass clarinet player.  He's done just so much."

Mesa High Orchestra Concert
For Josh's orchestra concert, the full orchestra played "An American Rhapsody", "Dusk", and "Selections from My Fair Lady".  Josh had to play both clarinet and bass clarinet.  He had to move seats and get situated between a couple of songs.  I could see him for one song, but not the others.  Argh!!!

They gave a tribute to the seniors in the program.  This is what was said of Josh - "Josh has taken several music classes through out high school.  He participated in Marching Band, Jazz Band, Jazz Band Combo, and Full Orchestra along with his band class.  Josh is a two time member of state marching band championships, one as a clarinet and once for a Sousaphone.  He also participated in regional band an regional orchestra.  In addition, he played in the pit orchestra for Hello Dolly.  Josh is also a member of the National Honor Society.  Josh plans to attend a semester of school at ASU, then serve a two year mission for his church.  After that, he plans to return to ASU to finish he degree in robotic engineering."
