Memorable Monday
Journal Entry Aug. 2, 1987

I wanted to share a journal entry from August 2, 1987.  It was fun to hear from my own words what like was like during the time before and after high school.

"After my accident at BYU, I had a cast on.  One doctor told me I had a sprained ankle, another doctor tole me I had a cracked bone, sprained ankle, and I tore some ligaments.  I graduated from high school on June 11, 1987.  Our orchestra played a Fresh Aire song for graduation.  Tracie did an arrangement for us; she as o arranged Stille Nacht for our orchestra.  At orchestra competition, we played Stile Nacht.  Even though we didn't win, we were the best orchestra there.  After graduation, the Music Makers went on a trip.  On this trip, a good friends of mine, Anita Payne, passed away.  We had a lot of fun on th trip and we learned a lot.  We had fun because we knew Anita wanted it that way.  I loved Anita and I really do miss her.  Her kids are some of my good friends.  Jane is a really neat person.  She is a cute girls who lets people know how she feels.  She is one a million like her mother.  Judy is a rowdy type, but I like her too.  She tells people how who feels in her own way.  They are very good friends to me.  Another good friend of mine is Tracie Price.  She helped me so much in music, she encouraged me to be better.  I am so thankful for Tracie and her mother, Linda.  The Price family took me down to Canyon-lands with them.  They teach me a lot about life.  I am glad that they are my friends.  I am going to the University of Utah.  I'm excited in a way.  There might be a chance that I won't be able to go.  Our family might move to Arizona .   My dad might be transferred down there.  I do have a choice if my family does move, but I would like to stay with my family.  The past week, I have been on the pioneer trek for the second time.  The time I learned a lot more.  I thought about how rough the trek was and how the pioneer did it. I also compared the trek to my own life.  There are up and downs.  People need to help each other.  There re five guarantees of the program if you participated 100%.  One is an appreciation for you pioneer heritage; two, is a greater self esteem; three, is an appreciation for your family; four, is make new friends; five, is to gain a stronger testimony the the gospel.  SO far, all five have hit me and I am glad I went a second time.  My ma is Lori (Rachel) and my pa is Mike (Jake).  Lori is going on a mission.  She is really excited.  There  are 16 kids in my family - Jamin', Jeff, Jamin' Jim, Grandpa Jim,, Marvelous Mark, Super Scott, Airplane Blaine, Jumpin' Stacy, Cool Kim, Heavenly Hayley, Marty, Awesome Alisha, Neat, Nat and Terrific Tami.  Altogether there are 18 members of the Treehorn family.  Richard went on a mission. to Brazil.  I wrote my first letter to him almost 6 months since he lift the MTC.  Beep DeHaan is going on a mission to Independence, Missouri.  It think it is really neat that the DeHaan boys are going on mission.  Becky DeHaan is one of my leaders.  She is a really neat leader.  I am glad that I have the chance to know her.  My other leader is Carolyn Skousen.  I am glad I got to know her too.  They are good leaders and they care about me. Lisa works at Winegars, she works with some cute stock boys.  She loves working there.  I hope she will get to stay there and work,  The pay is student minimum wage, but she thinks that enjoying your work is better than the pay.  I somewhat agree with her.  She could a get a higher salary is whe worked somewhere else.  I got a viola for my birthday and graduation and Tracie got her cello the same day.  I'm sure glad that we got instruments.  Now I play the violin, viola, recorder, bass, and the bass guitar.  I really wanted to learn how to play the flute.  Maybe some day, I will get the chance"
